Pupil & School Leadership

Providing pupils with leadership responsibilities is important as it helps them develop confidence, independence and a sense of responsibility. Leadership roles encourage pupils to model positive behaviour, work collaboratively with others and contribute to the wider school community. By taking on these roles, pupils develop key life skills such as communication, problem-solving and empathy, while learning that their voice and actions can make a positive difference.

School Council

At Malorees Primary School we believe it is very important that children develop confidence to develop ideas, work collaboratively and also speak up as an individual to influence developments at the schools.

It is the responsibility of the School Council to listen to, and represent the views of their fellow pupils.

The children, from Year 1 to 6, are elected by their peers, following the sharing of a simple manifesto.

Successful children are selected by their peers in a ballot. They hold the position for a year and attend regular meetings.

They consult with their peers about issues directly from the school community as well as considering national and global campaigns.

Their contributions play an important role in school improvement.

Pupil Equality and Diversity Ambassadors

Our Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors help ensure that everyone in our school feels valued, respected and included. They promote kindness, celebrate differences and support school initiatives that encourage fairness, understanding and a strong sense of belonging.

Echo - Warriors

Echo-Warriors play an important role in promoting positive behaviour and helping pupils make suitable choices around the school. They support a calm, respectful environment by modelling good behaviour, encouraging others to follow school expectations and helping to look after our school environment, inside and outside.

 Reading Ambassadors

Our Reading Ambassadors are a dedicated team of pupils who champion the joy of reading across the school. Chosen for their enthusiasm, reliability and passion for books, they play a key role in helping us build a vibrant reading culture. As part of our Malorees ethos, they help us aim high and dream big, inspiring every child to see themselves as a confident, curious and capable reader.

Red Caps

Our school’s Red Caps are teams of responsible Year 5 and Year 6 pupils who play an important role in supporting the infant and junior playgrounds. They are trained in basic conflict resolution strategies, enabling them to help resolve minor disagreements and promote positive interactions between children. In addition to this, Red Caps act as positive role models, offering guidance and encouragement to younger pupils and helping them to engage confidently in play. Their presence contributes to a friendly, inclusive, and well-supported playground environment where all children feel safe and valued.

The role also supports the personal development of our older pupils, providing them with valuable opportunities to develop leadership skills, take on responsibility, and build confidence.
