Online Safety
Family workshop 16 October
Our next family workshop session covering online safety and our Computing teaching will be held at Malorees on Wednesday 16 October from 9am-10am. All families are welcome, to discuss questions such as:- How do we teach online safety and Computing at Malorees?
- What are the latest risks and opportunities for children online?
- When should children be allowed to use phones or go online alone?
- Where can families get advice they can trust on these issues?
- How can we work together to keep our children safe and happy online?
All parents and carers of children at Malorees are welcome to join us at school for this special family workshop, where we will bring you up to date on the latest advice and research, and give you the chance to shape our work in this increasingly important part of growing up.

Teaching online safety
We teach online safety at Malorees in our Computing and PSHE lessons, following Government guidance and the National Curriculum, with age-appropriate lessons from Year 1 to Year 6 that cover issues such as:
- How to ask a trusted adult for help
- How social media can shape our online reputation and relationships, and the risks of cyberbullying
- Privacy, security, copyright and ownership
- How to spot fake news and images, and other online risks
- The impact of technology on health and wellbeing
Supporting families
We also help families to help their children develop the skills they need to thrive in our digital world, with trusted up to date advice on:
- Making family digital agreements
- Parental controls and screen time
- Monitoring children's online activity
We also help families by recommending expert partners who you can trust, such as:
