PSFA June 2021 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back for the final half term of this School year. We hope that you had a relaxing half term break and enjoyed the wonderful weather. Fingers crossed the good weather hangs around, as we have an exciting calendar of events planned for this half term!

PYJAMA DAY AND MESSAGE FROM MS DAVIES

Firstly, thank you to all the children, staff and parents/carers who came to School in their PJs on the last day of last half term in support of our wonderful Executive Head - Sian Davies.

The money contributed was used to put together a Get Well Hamper and bouquet of flowers for Ms Davies and a huge thank you must go to Year 6 Parent Priya for putting this together for us.

Items were purchased (and some donated) from local businesses.

We have received this message of thanks from Ms Davies which we wanted to share with you all:

"What a lovely and unexpected surprise to receive the beautiful flowers and gifts from Malorees this morning.

Individually they are fabulous and collectively they really are amazing!

The thought, time and care that has gone into all the incredible goodies in the hamper to support my recovery alongside my very elegant silk gown which I adore are gorgeous. I look forward to enjoying them one by one.

As for the Panama hat – I look forward to wearing it in the sunshine and ‘hopefully’ looking the part!

In addition, I have opened an email today which shares the amazing ‘Pyjama Day’ that was held yesterday – it made me cry ‘happy tears’ with the thought of the incredible effort and sentiment behind the day. I had no idea this was taking place. Malorees has always had creative ideas!

I have been so humbled, touched and overwhelmed by the love, kindness and support I have received within our school community. The positive messages and cards have given me a great ‘boost’ and reinforce that the core values of caring and kindness are so central to our school.

I miss everyone a great deal as my absence from school was so sudden and unexpected. I look forward to seeing everyone when I am able to. Please do share my gratitude/email to the parent community. In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful half term.

 With love and appreciation

Sian"

SECOND HAND UNIFORM SALE

Thank you to Charlotte Child (mother of Frieda and Audrey) for organising the second hand uniform sale. £150 was raised and more importantly, lots of pre-loved uniform went to good homes rather than to landfill!

MALOREES MARCH READ AND FOREST SCHOOL TRAINING

Thank you to all the children that took part in the sponsored read during March.  We hope that they enjoyed rising to the challenge and discovered some new books. The money raised, together with funds from the Roger Hulme fund, are funding the Forest School training for juniors TA Miss Charlotte. Once Miss Charlotte’s training is complete, the School will have two Forest School leaders.

Miss Charlotte says:

“Training is going amazing, I'm currently working on an extensive handbook regarding our school land/orchard, health and safety, conservation and planning. I have two more face-to-face training days coming up at the end of June.”

UPCOMING EVENTS!!

The final half term of the School year is always busy with events - this year even more so!

We really hope that we will be able to run the events that we have planned but must stress that they are subject to the Government’s Road Map proceeding on schedule on 21 June to allow gatherings larger than 30.  We will confirm just as soon as we can.

This is what we have planned - more information will follow but please put these dates in your diaries!

25th JUNE EVENING: Marvellous Malorees Moonwalk.

This is a lovely event that was formed by a former parent where a group of us walk 10kms into central London via refreshment drinks on Primrose Hill. Usually we would run this as a fundraiser, but this year we would like to run it as a School community event with no pressure to fundraise, rather an opportunity for Parents and Carers to socialise and get to know each other.

2nd JULY PM: Early Years (Rainbow, Red and Blue classes)

Get to know you coffee event for parents and carers. This would normally be held right at the beginning of the School year, but obviously that wasn’t possible - so better late than never!

9th JULY AM: Infants Sports Day

Mr Cleary is hoping that parents can attend so it would be great to see as many parents as possible cheering the children on AND participating in the parent/carers race!

15th JULY: Juniors Sports Day (back up 20TH JULY)

A whole day event and it would be amazing to see loads of parents cheering the children on AND participating in the parent /carers race!

Friday 16th JULY 3.30pm: Summer Celebration.

This will be held straight after School in place of the Summer Fair. Inflatables, Paella by Jamon Jamon (Year 1 Parent Nick Friedmann), BBQ, Food by 9KITCHENS, strawberries, bar….

A chance for us all to socialise at the end of this very challenging year.

11th SEPTEMBER and already training: Blenheim Triathlon.

A massive thank you to Parent Governor Giles Deards who has yet again outdone himself in “encouraging” people to sign up for this fantastic event!

At last count, the Malorees Team stands at over 50 people all prepared to swim, run and/or cycle to raise money for the School and all of our children.

The Team are busy training and this is going to be a brilliant way to start the new School year in September and inject some vital funds into the School.

There's still opportunities to join lots of local fun fitness training leading up to this:

All participants are yet to set their pages but if you are able, please sponsor the team's efforts or an individual team member here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/displayCharityCampaignPage.action?campaignId=16896&charityId=1018788

Ice Lollies

Year 6 students will regularly hold ice lolly sales to raise money for their leavers party and year book.   It’s worth carrying coins to support their enterprise!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

As always, we really appreciate all time donated by Parents and Carers to School events.  In order for us to run these Summer Events, we need volunteers

Please get in touch with your class rep or the PSFA Committee - Dana Horsfall (4K) , Nicola Weller-Morgan (Green), Kate Norman (Green and Red), Alice Maclean (Rainbow and 5S) and  Paul Stratton or maloreespsfa@gmail.com - if you have time or skills to give!

With best wishes
