Activities |
Read the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. This is a suggested link: Build bridges out of different construction material, such as Lego, blocks and Duplo. You could try to make a bridge out of paper, challenge yourself to make it strong enough to take the weight of a small toy. Are you brave enough to put a bowl of water underneath? Will your toy get eaten by the troll who lives under the bridge?
Drawing and Writing – draw a picture of a Troll then label him/her. For example ‘green eyes’, ‘sharp teeth’, ‘smelly hair.’ Use your ‘Fred Fingers’ to help you to sound out. Draw a picture of one of the goats and then write sentences such as “I am the big, brown goat.” “I will push the troll off the bridge.”
Sing Songs and learn a poem – learn and perform the songs: The Three Goats Song (Sung to the tune of If you’re Happy) If you’re hungry and you know it, cross the bridge. Trip Trap (stomp feet) If you’re hungry and you know it, cross the bridge. Trip Trap If you’re hungry and you know, then your tummy sure will know it. If you’re hungry and you know it, cross the bridge.
Make masks or stick puppets of characters from the story. Act out the story together.
Own Version - Use animals to make up your own version of the Three billy goats – for example The Three Little Monkeys, dogs etc
Make an obstacle course for your small world toys – use words such as over, under, through, around
Creating - draw, paint or make the characters from the story. Use junk modelling objects such as toilet rolls, empty milk bottles, cereal boxes etc |
