Thank you to Malorees Tri Team & a call to get involved with swim/bike/run!
Congratulations and thank you to our wonderful 'Kensal Tri' team at Blenheim at the end of May and all the training they did over several weeks.
We took a team of lucky thirty fundraisers who braved either the Relay or individual events.
Thank you also to the 233 people who sponsored the team and to Mr Mike Cleary, Ms Charlotte Barroso, Ms Alice Mclean, Mr Victor Polo, Giles Deards, Katie Holt, Jamie Baird, Nick Dugdale-Moore, Dritan Myzyri for their fundraising.
Together with magnificent efforts by Y2's Eoin O'Connell Friedman and Felix McAuley in the children's events, the team raised over £8,600 to help save the school minibus and to invest in outdoor learning.
Giles Deards, Malorees Parent & Community Link Governor, said "We've been taking part in the Blenheim Triathlon now for five years and it's raised over £70,000 for the school.
But, more than even that, is the fun we have doing this as supportive community of all shapes, sizes and ages. We encourage one another to 'give it a go' - which is exactly the ethos and values all Malorees children are taught from their Early Years at Malorees.
It's fantastic to have Mr Cleary, PE Lead, and so many teachers inspiring us at this and the other sports events through the year such as the Winter Run.
What an amazing effort also by Eoin and Felix - they have showed Triathlon isn't just an event for the adults!".
The story of the Tri has been reported in the Kilburn Times here: www.kilburntimes.co.uk/news/
A big thank you to Daniels Estate Agents on Chamberlayne Rd for sponsoring our team again and all their ongoing support for the school.
Kensal Tri is a year-round initiative that began at Malorees to help get local people fitter and to meet more people around the community. This year 159 adults and 35 children took part representing 24 local charities raising over £75,000.
Missed out or simply would like to get fitter?
There are two more family Tri events coming up on July 2nd and September 24th should you/the family like to get involved, whether just to take part in free or discounted local swim, bike, run training and/or to fundraise.
The fitness opportunities include free adult swimming classes kindly made available by Swimming Nature at the Maqam Centre on Wrentham Ave.
The above all involve a 25% discount when booked with Kensal Tri - or the PSFA will further help with entry costs if you are able to fundraise for the school.
Check out www.kensaltri.com or email Giles at kensaltriathlon@gmail to get involved.
